Presentation
topic: Improving Perioperative Workflow
Topic
overview: The perioperative department is one of the
most significant departments in the hospital. For example, 70%
of all revenues and 40% of the entire budget is represented by
this department in most hospitals. Also, workflow issues in the
OR don’t just affect this one department; they affect the
entire hospital. Most importantly, surgeons prefer to work in
hospitals with perioperative departments that run smoothly, and
hospital executives are extremely focused on attracting and retaining
surgeons.
| This
session will address and cover the following: |
| • |
How
barriers to perioperative work flow and workflow improvements
in the perioperative department affect a hospital’s
bottom line and overall patient outcomes |
| • |
Best
practices in perioperative scheduling, patient flow, material
management, and asset tracking |
| • |
Using
perioperative specific analytics to find and fix work flow
problems |
| • |
Other
ways technology can help improve perioperative work flow |
