Presentation topic: Healthcare Remote Access: Ensuring a Productive and Secure Environment

Topic overview: In a competitive healthcare environment, providing secure remote access for physicians and administrators is becoming a necessary standard and HIPAA mandate. Usernames and passwords are no longer sufficient, and virtualization is much more prevalent. This requires more advanced security counter-measures. Gary Long, Cerner’s Information Security Officer, and Evan Conway, Positive Networks’ EVP of Channel Management discuss how to use technology with appropriate due diligence and risk management to ensure that security compliance requirements are met in a hospital environment. A focus will be on meeting these security requirements while still ensuring simple access to appropriate resources.
