| Overview: Widespread adoption of EHR technology, implemented using national data standards, and used to connect caregivers to each other, is foundational to being able to measure healthcare and to use the results to promote the 3 aims of the National Quality Strategy: Better Care; Healthy People/Healthy Communities; and Affordable Care. The Meaningful Use Clinical Quality Measures set the foundation for a fundamental transformation from manually abstracted measures to "eMeasures" collected from an EHR, with rapid growth in the number of measures that must be supported. In this session, we will discuss this transition to eMeasures through Meaningful Use and other federally mandated programs such as Value-based Purchasing and Accountable Care Organizations, as well as the challenges and opportunities this presents to providers in both the acute care and ambulatory settings. |

| Presentation Topic: Vendor Neutral Cloud Archive |
| Presenter: |
| |
Chief Technology Officer, GNAX
and VMware vExpert |
|
|
| Overview: What is a VNA and how can it help you? In this session, learn the basic tenets of a true Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) and its major benefits. Today Healthcare IT is challenged with managing an enormous amount clinical content that is expanding exponentially. For much of this data, primarily medical imaging, a structured attempt has been made to create a canonical form of clinical information for the acquisition, storage, and exchange of this information - DICOM. This standard, and thus the industry in general have been primarily driven by the large PACS vendors. This has resulted in an enormous silo effect in how diagnostic data is produced and managed, with virtually no capability of sharing data outside of the original acquiring system. This heterogeneous PACS environment is clearly a data ownership challenge that customers need to solve, so that they can enable better data management, security, mobility, and general integration across their enterprise. Regardless of the technology chosen to manage both DICOM and non-DICOM content, the primary purpose for any archive, including VNA, is to support data at rest and provide access to the most accurate and relevant data at the point of care. The implementation of a VNA can reduce archive costs and remove cyclical costs including data migration, integration to other PACS and integration to an EMR for data sharing. This session will provide you with a checklist of what a VNA vendor should offer you as well as reveal the pros and cons of hosting your VNA in the cloud versus on site. |

| Presentation Topic: Managing readmissions and care transitions for today’s healthcare organizations |
| Presenter: |
 |
Randy Rosshirt
Microsoft Health Solutions Group
|
| Abstract: High hospital readmissions not only put your reputation for quality at stake, but also put your reimbursement dollars from Medicare and other payers in jeopardy. Proactively managing patients at risk for readmissions while they are within the walls of your hospital is a first step toward reducing the impact of readmissions. It's also critical to continue to enable effective care and management of your patients once they leave your institution, whether it's in community care settings or in the home. This means providing a complete and accurate discharge record to the physicians who will care for your patients once they have left the hospital and providing a clear and prescriptive care plan to your patients upon discharge. Microsoft can help you optimize patient care transitions by more effectively using and sharing data within your organization, with other care providers, and with your patients. |

| Presentation Topic: Cloud Computing in Healthcare |
| Presenters: |

Chief Information Officer
Emory Healthcare |
|
Chief Technology Officer, GNAX
and VMware vExpert |
| Overview: How can the cloud help you and how can you get started? In this session, hear from Emory Healthcare Chief Information Officer, Dedra Cantrell and GNAX Chief Technology Officer, Mariano Maluf and learn how Emory Healthcare was able to improve healthcare technology delivery and lower costs significantly. Ms. Cantrell will cover how Emory is offloading 2nd tier applications into a hosted cloud solution. As with many hospitals, Emory Healthcare has one core clinical application. However, around that core system are myriad "second-tier" applications that require large amounts of technical attention. To alleviate this pressure, GNAX Health built a private cloud solution to house and deliver all of these second-tier applications. Emory Healthcare was able to move from a capital intensive, dedicated hardware environment for each application with weeks to months of deployment time to a cloud solution with days or hours of deployment, efficient capacity utilization and built-in flexibility that can be relegated to a single operating budget line item. Emory Healthcare no longer has to manage the infrastructure for these applications, saving itself up to 30%. Mr. Maluf will cover the technology behind this solution and how leading edge private, public and hybrid cloud solutions can help reduce costs, improve application performance and increase organizational agility for healthcare providers. Plus, learn how the cloud is secured as prevalent myths about cloud security are debunked. |

| Overview: Georgia Partnership for TeleHealth has become one of the most robust, comprehensive networks in the nation. Expansion has included nursing homes, school clinics, ER's, trauma, stroke, primary care, child advocacy, and continuing education. GPT now also houses the Southeastern Telehealth Resource Center. Legislation was passed to mandate that all payers must pay for telemedicine. The network now has over 350 partners and locations. Clinical utilization has climbed exponentially. While January, 2006 GPT had a mere 8 encounters, there were over 25,000 encounters for 2010 and this is expected to double in 2011. There are over 200 specialists and healthcare providers, representing over 40 specialties, participating in the network. Providing access to healthcare via telemedicine has proven to cut costs on travel, work time and provides earlier access to care therefore preventing the large costs of untreated healthcare problems. The Georgia Telemedicine Program is proven. There is a widespread acceptance of its use in Georgia. |
